"Eric Saade perfect choice in Melodifestivalen 2011"

Eric Saade is the Manboy to sent to the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. This is the verdict from the traditional international jury group collected by Poplight.se for the final of Melodifestivalen 2011. This is the third year when an international jury speaks out at Poplight – and the voting has proved to have significance for how the international juries place their votes in the Melodifestivalen final. Who's ''Carolas daughter''? What's the pan-European view on Melodifestivalen 2011? Don't miss the comments from Mihai Traistariu, Roberto Meloni Marcin Mrozinski and Friðrik Ómar!

Mihai Traistariu – Mihai performed the classic ”Tornerò”, achieving a fourth place in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. ”Tornerò” made it to the charts in Sweden and many other countries.

Roberto Meloni – The Italian who ended up in Latvia, representing the country in Eurovision both in 2007 and 2008, with the Swedish-written songs ”Questa Notte” and ”Wolves of the Sea”.

Marcin Mrozinski – Marcin represented Poland in last year's Eurovision Song Contest with "Legenda", after an overwhelming victory in the Polish final. He is also a composer and a popular artist for TV shows and musicals.

Friðrik Ómar – Together with Regína Ósk, Friðrik Ómar reached position 14 for Iceland in Eurovision 2008. Since a year back, Friðrik lives in Stockholm, where he is organising an Icelandic concert the 30th of March.
10. "Popular" - Eric Saade
Mihai Traistariu: The best entry this year! His presence is perfect for Eurovision fans, and especially for girls. The song is catchy, he's good looking and the show is ... perfect! Even if I have a big problem – I don't see this song finishing in the first line in Germany. But this is the perfect choice, I guess, for Sweden 2011!

Roberto Meloni: OK, definitely the favourite! This is also because of the lower level of the other contestants (except for The Moniker, of course!). I was actually expecting more from Saade, after last year nice performance and song. He is definitely a good performer (I'm a bit annoyed by these Timberlake-wannabe choreographies), and he knows how to work on the stage and catch the attention of the public. I like the refrain, less so the melody of the phrase, but in general, this is a winning song that can go far in a final of the ESC 2011, which is unfortunately full of quite bad songs. Good luck Eric, and Sweden – it could be a very good year!

Marcin Mrozinski: And so we have Eric, who we know from last year with his "Manboy". His new song is reminding me a of the game "Gremlins". When I was very young, I was addicted to this game, and I was running away from Gremlins, and there was a music like "Popular" in the background, he he ... This will be a huuuge hit in Euro Club, but not a winner of the ESC. His voice is not perfect. I think it’s a bit too high for him, and he’s got some problems, but I am sure that he will get some extra points for his charm and beauty.

Friðrik Ómar: "Popular" vs. "Manboy" = the same structure. The same plan. The same routine. I personally think that "Manboy" was a better song, but somehow I feel like ERIC is gonna win anyway. Eric's presence on your TV screen is magical. This guy is a true popstar, though sometimes he is a bit pitchy, but you forgive him right away. Chances in Eurovision: GOOD.

MELODIFESTIVALEN 2011 - THE OVERALL VERDICT
Mihai Traistariu: Surprising, but this is the first year where I don't find a good song for the Swedish entry! Sorry! What happened with ... the artists ... with the writers?

Roberto Meloni: In general, the ten songs that are in the final are quite different from each other, but I found them low in music quality and new ideas. At least the average age of the contestants is not like in the Swedish 2010 Jurassic Final (how is aunt Pernilla, by the way?), and the wind machine remained locked somewhere behind the stage (waiting maybe for the third Perrelli participation). In my opinion, Sweden will this year decide to send an average song (as "Popular"), in order to forget last year's shock of not reaching the Final (which you deserved to reach, Anna!) and a good place in the Final (I think between 6th and 9th place). I wish you the best, lovely beautiful Sweden!

Marcin Mrozinski: I am so jealous that Sweden is doing such a great Eurovision show! I simply love Melodifestivalen!!! It’s just amazing and huge! WOW! I wish I was a Sweden and could take a part in a show like that. Every year, there are a lot of great songs and artists! And I can see that Swedes are taking care of Eurovision! I wish all of you to win again and prepare such a great show for the whole of Europe! Good luck to you, and good job!

Friðrik Ómar: I think that Melodifestivalen is always one of the best international finals in Eurovision every year. This year is no exception.
THE WINNER: "POPULAR" - ERIC SAADE!
Note: Last year Eric Saade won the International Panel at Poplight as well, receiving 28 points for "Mayboy" out of a possible 48.

The panelists have evaluated the entries of the Melodifestivalen 2011 final on the basis of the performances from the semi-finals, found at SVT Play. The eleven jury groups at the final of Melodifestivalen 2011 consist of five persons each and comes from a wide variety of Eurovision Song Contest countries.
